Ramped Against IVDD

At the beginning of November, Schatzi at Luv My Dachshunds had an IVDD flareup that required back surgury and a long crate rest recovery. Her mom posted about IVDD and dachshunds. Her recommendations to avoid an injury are restrict jumping, stairs and your dachshund's weight. It's a very informative post. The post has a good picture of their ramp. If you are a doxie go read about it.

I've been Christmas tagged.

My friend Eduardo tagged me to do a Christmas meme.

The Rules. Why are there always rules?

  • Just copy and paste into a new form.
  • Change all the answers so that they apply only to you.
  • Then post it!
  • Remember to tell, all you tag, that they are playing too!

Here we go!!!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
Wrapping paper. When someone wraps it’s like two presents. The paper to shred to tiny bits and the gift.
2. Real tree or Artificial?
I like the real pine trees we have in our back yard better, but mom puts up a little red artificial
tree.
3. When do you put up the tree?
Mom puts up our tree, a week before Christmas.
4. Wreath on your door?
No.
5. Do you like eggnog?

I’ve never had it. Mom doesn’t buy it, the smell makes her nauseous.
6. Favourite Xmas gift received as a child?
I’ve only had one Christmas. I got a gorilla that makes noise. I still play with it.
7. Easiest person to buy for?
I don’t have money.
8. Least easiest?
Same as #7.
9. Do you have a nativity scene?
Mom does.
It is hand made, from Spain. Mom kept it on the floor by the fireplace. I kept stealing the lambs and she would find them buried in my crate.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards?
I say email. It saves the environment.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
A new plaid coat with velcro. I hate velcro.

12. Favourite Christmas Movie?
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
I don’t have money. See #7.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
No. I’ve only had one Christmas. The cats have. They ate their Xmas treats too fast them recycled them up for me to taste. Yum!
15. Open presents on Christmas eve or morning?
Morning.
16. Lights on the tree?
Yes. Red.
17. Favourite Christmas song?
Jingle Cats Medley by the Jingle Cats.
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
Stay at home.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's?

20. Angel on the tree top or a star?

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?

25. Brussels Sprouts - love or hate them?
Don’t know.
26. Favourite accompaniment to the Christmas Pud?
Meat, meat, meaty, meat. See #21.
27. Favourite Christmas Carol?
Silent Night by the Jingle Cats.
28. Your very Favourite Christmas Thing?
The lambs from the Nativity Scene. See #9
29. A Christmas wish!
Peace on Earth.
30. Tag some friends.

My Buddy Belt

On mom's never ending quest to get me the perfect harness, she has ordered me yet another one.

The BUDDY BELT . The Buddy Belt is made in Canada.

Buddy Belt is the little harness that could. It was specially designed for Buddy, a miniature dachshund.
This is Buddy. The Buddy Belt was designed for him by his owner, because she could not find him the perfect harness on her quest to find him one. Read their story here. The Buddy Belt is not just for little dogs. It comes in many sizes.

This is my Buddy Belt. Mom chose the "black motorcycle momma look" for me.

Buddy Belts unique, patented design reduces stress on your pet's neck, is easy to use and is made with 100% leather and quality hardware. This makes the Buddy Belt very fashionable and highly functional. The leather molds to your body for a custom fit. It should last you a lifetime.

Traditional neck collars can cause unnecessary strain and discomfort for pets. In many cases this strain results in damage to your pet's trachea (windpipe) and/or spine.
You put your two front legs in the holes and buckle up around the back.

Me wearing my Buddy Belt.

This is my friend Peanut.

Peanut wears a Buddy Belt too. Doesn't she look gorgeous in her red leather? Why don't you go visit Peanut and tell her how pretty she is.

These are my friends Sophie, Dixie & Harley.

You can tell them how great they look in their Buddy Belt's here.

If you wear a Buddy Belt and would like to be included in this post, let me know and I'll add you.

P.S. I think mom's harness quest is over.

I've Been Tagged.

My friend Mini tagged me for The 8 Random Things Meme!

Here are the Tag Rules:

  • Each player starts with eight random fact/habits about themselves.
  • People who are tagged need to write in their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
  • A the end of your blog post, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
  • Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged and to read your blog.

Here we go!!!!!

  1. Mom taught me to pee on command. If she says "Go peepee Ruby" I automatically squat and tinkle.
  2. I hate velcro. If anyone comes near me with it I will snarl at them.
  3. When I'm tired, I'll follow mom around whining until she sits down so I can cuddle with her.
  4. I hardly ever bark.
  5. When I go for a walkie it takes me a half hour to get around the block. Walk, sniff, sniff, sniff, walk, walk, sniff sniff.
  6. The first night in my forever home I showed mom I had acquired a taste for my poop. (That was the first and last time I showed her that).
  7. I eat a grain free food. Innova Small Bites.
  8. I have a human sister who is a nurse. I've never met her, she's far, far away.
If you would like to do this meme, consider yourself tagged.

PS Mom doesn't think the Clavamox is working. I'm still swallowing hard and the "Yuck Mouth" hasn't left me.

Update on my Snaking & Awards

My endoscopy procedure(snaking!!!) went well on Wednesday. The diagnosis is an infection of the tissue surrounding the epiglottis(the flap of tissue that prevents food from entering the trachea). The vet scoped to my stomach and could find no ulcers or tumors or foreign objects. My tonsils were also normal. The infection is a bacterial infection that requires Clavamox for 10 days. Dr. Judy says my infection was likely caused by something sharp that scraped or sliced my tissue, then infection set into the wound causing the swelling and foul smell. "Yuck Mouth".

I'm not feeling to well. My tummy is upset. Mom has been waiting on me and cleaning up my messes. Asta don't tell my mom about your post, she thinks dogs can't clean up after themselves.

"Yuck Mouth"

On Wednesday Mom took me to the vet for my annual check up and vaccinations. This is me sitting on the exam table waiting for the doc. My ears are pinned back, I was pretty nervous.

Mom told the doc about a problem I've been having. Swallowing has been pretty hard for me. Mom says it's like I have a mouthful of dry soda crackers that I'm trying to swallow but just can't do it. There's alot of loud swallowing & lip smacking. I also have atrocious bad breath. Mom gags. (I know its gross). So the doc says it could be infected tonsils and that food is getting trapped behind them (I know its really gross). The doc is going to put me under & snake a tube down my throat to check it out on Tuesday.

Now for the "Yuck Mouth" part.

Mom has been singing about my bad breath. She sings "You've got a Yuck Mouth cause your breath stinks" or "You're a Yuck Mouth" over & over again to the tune of a 1980's ABC PSA that was broadcast on Saturday mornings while she was watching cartoons. I think she's a little silly some times. Here's the commercial if anybody would like a blast from the past.

Wish me luck for Tuesday, going under and all that snaking sounds pretty scary.
